World and lore

Reading the four elements

Earth, water, fire and air are not simply colours on a card. Here is how each faction understands elemental power — and why they disagree.

· 4 min read · The Gemnix team

Luminous valley of floating gems above forest, river and volcanic regions

Every faction in Gemnix Terra agrees that the gems hold elemental power. What they disagree about is what the power is for.

Gargoyles read a waking gem as pressure in the ground, and their first instinct is to steady the land around it. Tritons trace where the power flows and close what has been opened too far. Flamekins see fuel for craft, and make the most beautiful things in the realm with it. Feywilds find the gem first, record it, and tell someone.

None of these readings is wrong, which is exactly why the balance is difficult to keep. When you choose a faction in Gemnix Terra, you are choosing which of those instincts you trust.
